Under Floor Wheel Mill
Locomotive wheel sets are re-milled by round button RPMW 16 mm diameter size inserts, which are clamped
radially on a profiled segmented cartridge. This completes a full form of wheel milling cutter for
interpolate profile milling.
RPMW.. inserts can be used for several cutting edge indexes, depending on the profile milling depth of cut.
This depends on the outer wheel condition.
This operation is most likely performed on under floor
machines with two sets of profile milling cutters, for a simultaneous set of locomotive wheels profile
milling.
